This is the second installment of female bands; the first was on The Organos, this will be on the female band; The Dum Dum Girls.The Dum Dum Girls started as a solo project of singer/songwriter Dee Dee Penny. The band's name is an implied reference to Dum Dum Boys by Iggy Pop. The band the expanded to a team band consisting of only female artists. The band consists of: De Dee (vocals, guitar),Jules (guitar, vocals), Bambi (bass, vocals), Sandy Vu (drums). The band was signed to Sub Pop records in 2009.They originally started with EPs on Captured Tracks & Zoo Music with a 7" on Hozac, all before being signed on with Sub Pop (prestigious Indie label) Dum Dum Girls released their debut full-length on March 30th, 2010 on Sub Pop. Produced by Dee Dee and Richard Gottehrer /Strangeloves, Voidoids, Blondie, The Go-Gos and, more recently, The Raveonettes. Will Be neither lo-fi nor polished. under thirty minutes with eleven songs, dumdumpops is a short tribute to love, loss, fun, fear and the classic pop kind of the '60s girl groups and early punk rockers.The music is along the lines of Pop/Punk in that dumdumpops can be angry/ catchy simultaneously.
